Funeral services for RI'S late Sen. Claiborne Pell

    NEWPORT, R.I. - Funeral services for the late Sen. Claiborne Pell ended Monday morning at 11:24 a.m. Right Rev. Geralyn Wolf read the closing remarks.

    The choir sang "Onward Christian Soldiers" as family and friends exited the church.

    Many Rhode Island politicians attended the services including Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rep. Patrick Kennedy, Sen. John Kerry, Sen. Christopher Dodd, and Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut.

    Governor Carcieri, and former Governors Bruce Sundlun, Lincoln Almond and Edward DiPrete were all also on-hand.

    There was a reception at Salve Regina University's Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy.
