DTV switch, one week away, ready?

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - In one week from WPRI-TV will complete the transition to digital television. The transition means if you have an older TV with rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna you will need a converter box to continue receiving our signal.

Eyewitness News has been receiving many calls at our station about the big switch. The TV converter box coupon program has gone broke. But you should still apply for a coupon and you will be put on a waiting list. You will get your coupon on a first come first serve basis. But remember, coupons expire within 90 days from the date they were mailed.

Some of the most popular questions we are receiving are, "When do I install my converter box?" The answer is now. You don't have to wait until February 17th. You can start getting digital television immediately.

Another common question is, "Does it make a difference which TV converter box I buy?" No, TV converter box features may vary depending on the brand; however, all the models will allow your analog TV to work after the switch.
