ATTLEBORO, Mass., (WPRI) - In a new effort to crack down on underage drinking local liquor stores are teaming up with law enforcement.

The city of Attleboro is using a new technique called "Cops in Shops" where undercover police officers are working behind the counters of liquor stores.

Four liquor stores participated in the program over the weekend, resulting in six people being cited on a variety of charges. Those cited were either trying to buy alcohol for underage drinkers or the customers were underage themselves.

Grant money from the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security is being used to help fund the program.
