We have followed "The Ghost Hunters" from local plumbers to world wide stars on the hit “SYFY” show.
With some changes to the show and new members of the team, we were exclusively invited to sit in as team leader Jason talked about the new season and everything ghost hunting.
Season eight of "The Ghost Hunters" has 14 new episodes that you will want to watch with the lights on.
"This is going to be an incredible season. First off, Grant's gone so the dynamics of the team have really shifted. Everyone is trying to find where they fit in now. Some of the best investigations we've had," said team leader Jason Hawes.
Hawes spoke to The Rhode Show at his home as he was talking to stations around the country about the new season.
"We did a case in South Carolina an old jail where one of our production people actually got sort of pulled into the investigation. She didn't want to be a part of it."
Jason and the team headed below the Mason Dixon line for a bunch of southern spirits.
"An old jail that was the first female serial killer in the United States. We investigated a bunch of places in New Orleans. One of the buildings that we investigated had a fire that was a major hate crime. About 20 some odd people lost their lives."
Almost a decade into production, "Ghost Hunters" is not only still a ratings monster, but promises not to let it's fans down.
As the team leader of the show even Jason is impressed by the season.
"This is definitely with in the top the top seasons. The amount of activity caught I think people are now able to see the interaction of the team. How everybody intermingles. We brought a new investigator in so people get to see how that person works out with the rest of the crew."
Jason’s ghost hunting partner Grant left the show last season and new members have been added.
"When I’m bringing somebody in we're trying to look for somebody first off common sense they need common sense and you would be surprised how hard that is to find sometimes. We're looking for people who don’t automatically claim everything is a haunting, but not overdue trying to disprove it as well. They need to be able to ride that fine line. Look for the explanation. They don't have to be a believer; of course it helps out if they are part skeptic."
Since the shows 2004 premiere it is now watched all over the world.
"It's incredible! To see something that twenty years ago, twenty plus years ago we started in the basement of my house and we use to meet up at a coffee shop, and then we had the trailer after my twin sons were born because we couldn't have the meetings in the house anymore. To see that it airs in 170 countries it’s phenomenal."
The Ghost Hunters fans have kept the team at the top of their game.
Meeting the team for fans is still exciting for Jason.
"I hear it from a lot of people they can't wait till they meet us and everything else and I try to tell them it's really not that cool. I'll be honest with you. We are the most down to earth. We are exactly on TV. who you meet in person."
What to do if you do see a spirit?
"I’ve always been the type to never run out of an area because when you do you turn your back to something that your trying to avoid and now you can't see when that thing is coming up behind you and that makes it even creepier doesn't it?"
Season eight of " The Ghost Hunters" debuts Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on the SYFY channel.
