WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - A local filmmaker is releasing a seven-part documentary web series called, "The Station Movie" to remember and honor the lives lost in the Club Fire Tragedy 10 years ago.
Gina Russo is one of the survivors and is featured in the documentary. Russo and her fiance were at the nightclub at the time of the fire.
"The fire started and unfortunately Freddy didn't make it out. Gina fortunately did make it out and has been a huge..going across the country and talking about fire safety. She convinced me that I should do this web series," filmmaker David Bettencourt said.
Russo, Bettencourt says, "is stronger than ever..just living life one day at a time."
The documentary is split up into seven distinct episodes from first responders, survivors, fire safe company Tyco etc.
"It's just a way to learn, remember and heal. That's our tag line. We want people to learn from this fire, remember those who were lost, and as a community to heal from it."
Special coverage of the Club Fire Tragedy: Ten Years Later will begin Wednesday on Eyewitness News Live at 5 on WPRI 12 and streaming live on www.wpri.com.
