Rihanna makes her big screen debut

Remember the classic board game, battleship? Well now, it's come to life in one of this summer's biggest blockbusters that is based on the game by local toy maker Hasbro! This morning the actors, including singer, Rihanna, sit down to talk about the film.

The opponent in Battleship is no longer the kid next door; it’s aliens. Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson lead the fight against the extra terrestrials. Singer Rihanna makes her big screen debut as petty officer Cora Raikes.

"It was important for me to keep up with them and not have people think about Rihanna when they see Raikes,” said Rihanna.

She got the acting bug from music videos.

“I was very nervous. Super nervous. I didn't know anything about acting. I had seen my acting coach a couple of times. I did some physical training. So, I was prepped, but I still didn't know if I could execute,” Rihanna added.

Most of scenes were shot at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu. One of Hollywood's hottest young actors recalls working with real war veteran.

"To be with these guys, and listened to their true accounts of what they've done or sacrificed, was very humbling,” said Kitsch.

Iraq war veteran, Greg Gadson, steals the show. He never dreamed of acting; just a few years ago, he was the victim of a roadside bomb.

“I never imagined with legs, and even after I lost my legs, I never imagined that. So, it's just amazing. An incredible blessing,” said Gadson.

Battleship is out in theaters now nationwide.
