With Rhode Island's primary election just two weeks away, Eyewitness News is taking the pulse of voters in Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District.

On Sept. 11, voters will decide whether incumbent Congressman David Cicilline or one of his challengers, Anthony Gemma and Christopher Young, will face off against Republican Brendan Doherty in the November general election.

In our exclusive Eyewitness News poll conducted by Fleming & Associates, likely Democratic primary voters in Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District were asked a variety of questions including:

  • If the Democratic primary were being held today, who would you vote for?
  • Will supporters of the primary losers back the Democrat in the election, or shift support to Republican Brendan Doherty?
  • Will Providence's finances come into play?

The results of the poll will be released Monday on WPRI 12 on Eyewitness News at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., and at 10 p.m. on FoxProvidence. A complete breakdown of results will also be available on WPRI.com

*Poll conducted Aug. 19-22, 2012. Sample: 302 likely Democratic primary voters in Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District. Margin of error: +/- 5.7% (larger for subgroups).
