PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP/WPRI) -- Democratic U.S. Representative David Cicilline and his Republican challenger Brendan Doherty are set to hold their first live televised debate as the race to represent Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District enters its final weeks.
The two candidates are scheduled to debate beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Providence Performing Arts Center.
The hour-long broadcast begins at 7 p.m. on WPRI-12. A final 30-minute segment will be carried live on WPRI.com beginning at 8 p.m.
Cicilline is a former mayor of Providence serving his first term in Congress. Doherty is the former head of the state police.
