(WPRI) - Workers at the Providence Animal Rescue League describe two year old Gina as a PARL favorite.

According to the staff at Providence Animal Rescue League :

Gina is a 2 year old pit bull who was brought to us originally because her family was moving. She was adopted but after a few months she was returned because her adopter could no longer afford her care and she spent time tied outdoors because of a lack of housing. When Gina came back to us we started to realize that she was having confidence issues meeting new people but she was very affectionate with people she knew. We believe that this issue can be worked out and managed so we came up with a behavior modification plan to tackle it. Gina is now getting help honing her social skills thanks to Handsome Dan's Rescue and their Shelter Dog Enrichment Program!

She is receiving one-on-one training from their Lead Enrichment Specialist, Patrick. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10-2, Patrick and Gina leave the shelter and are out and about town. She’s meeting new people, learning new skills and becoming an even better dog for some lucky person (she sports an “adopt me” vest so everyone can see she’s a shelter dog). We are happy to report that she is doing better every day!

As for a home for this sweetie, Gina would love to be with active folks who enjoy outdoor activities. Children would be ok with her as long as they are a little older, understanding and dog-savvy. As far as we know she hasn't been around cats but she tends to be good around other dogs. She is also on her way to being house trained. She really has tons of potential and can make someone a very loving companion!

Gina's in a special training program!
